?Success leaves clues.? This is a saying Tony Robbins likes to use and he is right. Now it’s time to use the best method of attaining your goals and then use that to climb your ladder of success.

Let?s say that you want to make $10,000 a month with your online business. This is a popular goal among many Internet marketers.

So, how do you plan to achieve that income target, Perhaps you are planning to create products in a particular niche and sell them, or do CPA, or build a list, or build a membership site. The first step is to know the niche you want to focus on and what you are planning to offer to the prospects of that niche.

Let’s run some numbers here. If for example, you are planning to create a product priced at $97, you will need to sell 100+ products a month to hit the $10,000 target. If you have affiliates and are paying them a 50% commission rate of the product for the same price, you will need to make twice as many sales to hit your target.

If you have identified a niche, but you are not sure of what to write or create, then you need to find the movers and shakers in your niche and go to their websites. See what they are doing and the type of content they are creating as well as the products they are selling or promoting. This should give you some terrific ideas very quickly. Write down all the ideas you come up with, even the ones that seem beyond your reach or seem weird.

Narrow down your choices. From there you need to create a blog, build a list, and promote affiliate products, and your membership site as well. This can now be your plan. Research on how to
start your blog and how to quickly build a list. The search engines will give you all the information you need about these two subjects.

The next step involves analyzing your competitors. Check what they are doing in terms of blogging, running their membership sites, as well as what affiliate products they are selling in your niche. It is said that if you want to learn the real, practical secrets to succeed in your area of interest, watch what the experts are doing rather than listening to what they are saying. That is the reason you joined your competitor’s lists – to see what they are doing and how they are doing it.

Here are a few things you should analyze.

– How are they getting their
traffic,
– Who are their affiliates,
– Where do they get backlinks,
– What is their unique selling
proposition,
– What is their content strategy,
– Who is their audience,
– How have they structured their
website,
– What is missing on their
websites,
– And any other thing you may
find relevant.

You can use multiple tools to analyze your competitors. The thing I?m saying here is that success is simple because you just have to do what has been done, in a different way, of course. This is because, no matter what you want to do, someone else has done it before and you can use them to model after.

Therefore, you don?t have to reinvent anything or come up with a totally unique product. You just need to know what they did, and do it yourself in a different way.

I?m not suggesting that you infringe on anyones copyright. Rather, you just have to do the same thing, but in your own way. There really is nothing that needs reinvention. Besides, if someone else did what has been done before differently, then you certainly can too. Outsource what you cannot do and focus on what you can do best.

I want to make something clear here; when it comes to content, you don?t need to copy. If you want to earn $10,000 a month by building a $97 a month membership site with 100 members and another person in
your niche is already doing the same, you shouldn?t copy everything they are doing. You can use their methods of getting traffic and generating leads since they are obviously working, but you need to create your unique brand that has its own unique content and unique selling proposition.

This means you will be
improving upon their selling strategy to make it easier for you to get better results. This can make you stand out and set you above other membership sites. By so doing, you will attract and retain more members.

Focus on caring for your customers and money will take care of itself. There is a popular saying by Zig Ziglar that ?when you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.?

Another thing, you should not restrict your reverse engineering to your specific niche. You will find that you can gain valuable knowledge in terms of marketing strategies, how to get traffic, and other insights from other niches, which can translate nicely into yours.

For instance, you can find a membership site that sends out tutorial DVDs every month, has a ?hotline,? or personalizes the content based on the needs of each member. So if you are in a fashion niche, you can use this idea. Perhaps you can send out a DVD of the latest trends in the fashion industry to your members. Or offer fashion industry news via a hot line. Or even have a feature that shows how each member can look with a new clothing line based on their body build.

Of course, I know nothing about fashion. In fact, my fashion style is very simple; if it?s comfortable, I wear it. Perhaps fashion bloggers should come up with a website for people like me.

The bottom line is – stop thinking that you have to start from scratch or that you have to come up with a unique product- this will make you over-research and at the end of it all, you are likely to be disappointed. As I said earlier ?success leaves clues.? Therefore, do what is working for another person or business. Play detective, and follow the clues they are leaving, and then get busy reverse engineering your success story.
